On-line safety

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM OF ON-LINE FRAUD

All to often, buyers and sellers become the victim of on-line crime and fraud. Do not get sucked in by cleverly worded emails from nice people wanting to buy your goods.

Stick to the guide lines, exercise sound common sense and always remeber - If it is too good to be true, it probably is
Beware of bogus emails.

YappyDo Will NEVER ask for your password, This is your responsibility.
Remember to keep it safe. Never give it out.

YappyDo Will NEVER ask you for payment for goods you have brought from another user or act as an intermediary for transactions between buyers and sellers.

YappyDo will NEVER Ask for your Bank or credit card details

  1. Meet in person
Wherever possible, always meet the buyer in person.
If they are interested in buying your goods, they will usually want to see them first.
    Wouldn’t you ?

  2. Scammers / Fraudsters
Scammers and on-line fraudsters will invariably want to correspond using email and mobile telephone only and not meet face to face. However, many good transactions are acheived using the internet. Most of these will use a reputable method of payment such as PayPal to finalise the deal.

  3. Posting goods
If you do have to post any goods, please ensure that funds have 100% cleared for the exact amount before posting

  4. A recent scam
If requested, do not open a bank account to deal with a potential customer. In our opinion, this is sure to be a scam - Please, NEVER enter into an arrangement like this.

  5. Ticket scams
Make sure that any tickets you are purchasing can be, if necessary, transferred into your name.
Take the responsibility of changing names yourself. Do not wait for the seller to do this.

  6. Western Union
Our personal opinion. NEVER AGREE to send or receive Western union money transfers. All to often used by scammers and fraudsters. Steer clear and don’t get caught. See an example of this type of fraud on the website of Sussex police. Cashback Fraud link
